What is Computer? | Computer Basics
A computer is a high speed electronic device that accepts data and instructions from the user, then processes the data according to the instructions given and produces information as the output.
It is capable of performing arithmetic and logical operations on data. It also stores and executes a set of instructions and gives information. Data is entered in computer through some input device like keyboard.It is then processed according to given instructions in C.P.U. and the result is displayed through an output devices like Monitors and Printers.
The computer performs these fundamental steps:
DATA
is a collection of unorganized facts, including words, numbers, images and sound. Computers manipulate and process data to display information.INFORMATION
is data that is organized , has meaning , and is useful . Examples of information are reports, news letters, receipts, pictures, invoices or cheque.
